Glubos Brockenbude Verein Kreislauf – Contacts & Location
Description
Brockenbude Glubos - the independent and non-profit Brocki in Basel
Glubos - the independent and non-profit brocki
We collect, clear and dispose of all usable items free of charge. Our proceeds go to the Frauen-Oase Basel, we work and make decisions as a collective with equal rights and have been known for our shop window - for over 40 years.
Clearance and disposal
We clear entire apartments and houses. We remove everything we can use for the store free of charge. You only pay the costs for items that we have to dispose of. We will be happy to visit you without obligation. Inspection and quotation are free of charge - just give us a call.
Waste from clearances is sorted out and disposed of ecologically. Careful separation of glass, ceramics, metal, wood, electronic devices and toxic substances is ensured. Old clothes and fabrics are collected for Berghilfe and passed on to the company Telltex: https://www.glubos.ch/raeumen

In-store assortment & sale
In Glubos you will find almost everything you need to live - from closets to coffee spoons: on the first floor heavy furniture such as kitchen buffets, beds and pianos. Tables, chairs, lamps and carpets on the mezzanine floor. On the upper floor, books and clothes, kitchenware and consumer electronics, paintings, antiques and curiosities. Here you can browse to your heart's content. We are constantly updating our range and presenting it in an appealing way. https://www.glubos.ch/laden/#laden
Collection service & deliveries
Do you have furniture or items that you no longer need? We are happy to receive your donations and will collect everything that is useful for the store free of charge. You get rid of superfluous items and enable us to do several good deeds at once:
By offering useful, beautiful and curious things for sale, the items are reused and not thrown away unnecessarily. This is ecologically sustainable, creates a supply of affordable everyday items for other people and creates meaningful jobs. And with our net profit, we support the Women's Oasis, an important contact point and advice center for women in Kleinbasel.
We are happy to deliver furniture that you have purchased from us to your home. The transportation costs are calculated according to the time required. https://www.glubos.ch/abholen
Who we are
The Brockenbude Glubos is run by the non-profit association Kreislauf. We do not belong to any organization and are non-denominational. We use our net profit to support the Frauen-Oase Basel, an important contact and advice center for women in Kleinbasel, as well as other social institutions and cultural events where possible.
We have been running our Brockenstube for a long time as a self-managed team of employees who share all the work equally and make business decisions together. The team currently consists of four women and six men. Glubos is one of the oldest brockis in Basel and a hub of Basel's alternative cultural scene. https://www.glubos.ch/ueber-uns
Lending & shop window
From old to new, from everyday to whimsical: Glubos has a wide range of design objects. For a fee, we lend furniture and objects for public cultural or social events and art projects.
In our shop window, you can see more than just what you can buy from us. We are best known for our installation showcases. This alone makes a detour to Rappoltshof worthwhile for some. You can find our current shop window and a selection from previous years here: https://www.glubos.ch/laden/#schaufenster

History
The Brockenbude Glubos was founded in 1972. Alluding to the Globus department store, where disposable furniture was offered for the first time at that time, the name stands for the idea of recycling through its inversion.
First located in Kleinhüningen, then in Riehen, the Brockenstube was initially affiliated with the umbrella organization "SJWG/Selbsthilfe Jugendlicher in Wohngemeinschaften" (self-help for young people in shared accommodation) and the Gatternweg therapeutic shared accommodation and offered young people from a reformatory and former drug addicts an opportunity to enter the world of work. The profits generated went to the residential community.
In the early 1980s, the Brockenstube and the residential community were institutionally separated, as the supervision was overtaxing the sales staff, who had hardly any socio-educational training. A group of employees decided to continue running the business independently as a working collective and to donate the proceeds to the residential community. In 1982, an association was founded for this purpose and took over the store, which was now located on Hammerstrasse in Kleinbasel. In the winter of 1984/85, Glubos moved to its current location at Rappoltshof 12. Since the Brockenstube became independent, the working collective has consisted of eight to ten members, preferably half women and half men. Together with the association's board, they determine the management and carry out all the work that arises as a team. When the therapeutic operation in Gatternweg was closed in 1996, Glubos decided to support the women's oasis. In the first year, a symbolic amount and goods in kind were donated. Since then, Glubos has become one of the most important partners and sponsors of the Women's Oasis alongside the City of Basel. Glubos also supports other social institutions and cultural events wherever possible. In 2007, the collective celebrated its 35th anniversary with a street party and in 2012, a theater project with Matto Kämpf took place at Glubos to mark its 40th anniversary.Commitment
The reuse of everyday objects, the creation of meaningful jobs and equal cooperation within the team are not the only things that are important to us. Social and cultural commitment is just as important to us:
We use our net profit to support Frauen-Oase Basel, an important contact and advice center for women in Kleinbasel. Where possible, we also donate money or materials to other social institutions - find out more: https://www.glubos.ch/ueber-uns
