Coretti  - romantic carriage rides and charming vacation apartments in Sils-Maria

We have been running the farm "Traunter Ovas" (between the streams) on the Sils plain since 1992, the second generation to do so.

Our parents, Rudi and Fiorella Coretti, emigrated from the Bergell to the Upper Engadine in 1961 and took the plunge into winter tourism in combination with farming in the village center of Sils. In 1978, they built the new farm at its current location at the entrance to the village. The Coretti family lives in the house on the first floor, grandmother Fiorella Coretti lives on the first floor and we rent out 2 beautiful and cozy vacation apartments on the second floor.

We, Gian and Catherine, took over the farm in 1990 and have expanded it over the years. Together we have 3 wonderful sons. The eldest works on the farm and is taking the step of continuing to run the farm in the future, which makes us very happy. We employ 3 to 4 people who are mainly involved in the carriage business, caring for the horses and cows and harvesting hay. Today we have six carriages and offer rides into the Fex Valley from the village square in Sils Maria in both summer and winter.

 

On our organic farm on the Sils plain, we keep 15 Freiberger horses (Franches Montagnes, the only surviving Swiss breed) for the carriage business. These horses are excellent draught horses and are therefore ideal for the demanding Fex Valley. In addition to our horses, we run a suckler cow farm with 12 cows (grey cattle, brown cattle and F1), calves and a bull. 9 chickens, cat "Minnie" and English Setter "Arco" are also part of our small herd.

Carriage rides into the Fex Valley

A ride in a horse-drawn carriage: the experience for families, groups, company events or weddings

Climb aboard one of our horse-drawn carriages on the village square in Sils and let yourself be whisked away to the magical and car-free Val Fex. On the leisurely ride, immerse yourself in the idyllic landscape and the world of the mountains - let yourself be enchanted! Val Fex is one of the most beautiful side valleys of the Engadin and a meeting point for hikers and gourmets. Both can be wonderfully combined with a carriage ride.

We offer day and night rides (night rides only on reservation) with our two-horse carriages. Whether in summer or winter, a carriage ride in Val Fex is always a unique experience for families, groups, company events and weddings or simply as a successful end to a hike.

There are three small hamlets that we visit by carriage. The first is Fex - Platta and the journey takes 20 minutes. In Platta there is the "Pensiun Chesa Pool" for refreshments. The second hamlet is Fex - Crasta and the drive takes 30 minutes. The small church "Santa Margarita" has been standing there since around 1490 and attracts numerous visitors. The "Hotel Sonne" and the "Pension Crasta" tempt you to stop for a bite to eat. The final stop with the horse-drawn carriage is Fex - Curtins which you can reach in 50 minutes. Catering is provided by the "Hotel Fex". You are also welcome to book a return trip. This includes a stay of 1.5 hours in the price. For night trips, a stay of 2 hours is included.

We rent out two vacation apartments in Sils Maria. These are a 3.5-room and a 1.5-room apartment in a beautiful location on our farm. Relax in the beautiful Engadine with a unique view of the mountains, forest and meadows.

Holiday apartments 

In winter, the Furtschellas cable car is just a few minutes away on the free local bus. The cross-country ski trail is right in front of the house.
The nearby surroundings invite you to enjoy numerous sporting activities such as fishing, mountaineering, ice skating, golf, climbing, mountain biking, horse riding, rowing, wind and kite surfing, tennis, alpine skiing and  cross-country skiing.
