Description
Orthodontic Center Oerlikon
Our center, established in 1980, is a specialist dental practice for tooth and jaw positioning corrections and dental surgery. Our team consists of one female dentist and four male dentists. Together with long-standing, loyal and young, motivated employees, we guarantee optimal and courteous care over the years of treatment.
Continuous further training is a matter of course and a pleasure for us.
Emergencies:
Our practice is open all year round. The only exception is the period between Christmas and New Year, during which we are open on one day for emergencies.
How to proceed in an emergency outside of telephone operating hours:
Try to contact your orthodontist privately first. If your orthodontist is not available, do not hesitate to contact one of the other orthodontists at our center privately.
Otherwise, please contact your family dentist or the emergency dentist on duty in your region. For the city of Zurich, please dial: 0844 400 400.
Orthodontics deals with the correction of misaligned teeth and jaws, mostly in
children and adolescents, but increasingly also in adults.
The right time
The right time to start orthodontic treatment varies greatly
An assessment is rarely indicated as early as the primary dentition. An initial assessment at the age of 8-10 years after the permanent 8 front teeth and the 4 large canine teeth have grown through is usually ideal.
As a rule, the responsible school or family dentist will inform you of the presence of malocclusion. He or she will advise you at the right time to consult an orthodontic specialist.
The correction
The correction is made with fixed and/or removable appliances (braces). These can be
visible or invisible.
The average active treatment period is 2-3 years. Afterwards, the treatment result achieved must be stabilized with passive retaining appliances.
Complex cases sometimes require collaboration with specialists from other dental disciplines.Normal course of treatment for an orthodontic patient in our practice:
The first approximately ½-hour consultation with the orthodontist informs the patient and parents
about the main problems of tooth and jaw misalignment and about the type, timing, duration
and approximate cost of treatment.
The 2nd step towards orthodontic treatment is the preparation of the necessary planning
documents (special x-rays, plaster models and photos of the patient).
The 3rd appointment is the discussion of the definitively planned orthodontic treatment
with the patient and parents and the submission of a binding written cost
