The municipality of Thal lies in the lowest part of the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, nestled between Lake Constance and the Appenzeller Vorderland. The Buechberg divides the municipality of Thal into the southern inner Rhoden with the village of Thal and the northern Rhoden with Buechen, Staad and Altenrhein.

The Thal school comprises the four school districts of Altenrhein, Staad, Thal and Oberstufe. A total of around 700 pupils attend Thal School.

A working group consisting of the school council, school management and teaching staff worked intensively on the vision of Thal School in the 2019/2020 school year. Various guiding principles in the cultural, social and technical-instrumental areas were developed. The vision or mission statement describes the basic attitudes and shared values that guide Thal School. It should make the direction of our school clear for everyone involved.
