The funeral profession has changed steadily in recent years. Our work is no longer limited to burying and transferring the deceased. Nowadays, sensitive funeral discussions and reverent support are also very important, where the needs and wishes of the bereaved or the deceased are discussed and, if possible, taken into account. For over 30 years, we have been the people to contact in the event of a death.
In 1999, together with my wife Trix, I set up my own business and founded Bestattungsdienst Betschart GmbH.
In spring 2000, we had the opportunity to take over the funeral service for the lakeside communities of Vitznau, Weggis and Greppen from Hansruedi Zimmermann, Vitznau. As part of a reorganization, we took over the Eichhorn funeral home in Seewen / Schwyz and Küssnacht am Rigi in July 2003. At the same time, the name was changed to Bestattungsdienst Betschart & Eichhorn GmbH.
On January 1, 2012, we were able to take over the funeral service of Josef Betschart, (Sagerli) Muotathal, and on January 1, 2014, we were able to expand our business. On January 1, 2014, we had the opportunity to expand our area of operation even further by continuing the Ernst Schönbächler funeral service in Einsiedeln in our name.
Our funeral service today consists of a six-person, well-trained and very experienced team, which is there for you 365 days a year, around the clock. Our company has been a recognized member of the Swiss Association of Funeral Services (SVB) for several years, where we also complete our training and further education.

We provide comprehensive advice on deaths around the clock and handle orders for the coffining and repatriation of deceased persons in Switzerland and abroad, including all formalities. Whether burial or cremation, with laying out at home or in the laying-out room, in your own clothes or in a shroud - your wishes are respectfully received and carried out. We act as a coordinator between the family, the parish office, the burial office, the inquest authorities, the crematorium and the cemetery.
We are familiar with the local conditions in the various municipalities and parishes and have all the important contacts and addresses. The funeral discussion can take place at the relatives' home, in hospital, in a care home or in our meeting room. A quotation shows the usual local costs incurred.

It is also possible to make arrangements for your own funeral in advance.
If you want to arrange and influence your own funeral, you can record your wishes in writing and leave this letter with your relatives, the local authority and the funeral service. Such advice and support in drawing up a "disposition in the event of death", as well as information events on the topic of "Saying goodbye, our daily work and challenge" are also part of our tasks.

For the repatriation of deceased persons at home and abroad, we have specially equipped funeral vehicles at our disposal. We are very experienced in dealing with customs and embassies and know the laws and regulations. We also take care of all the formalities in such demanding cases.

We are mainly active in the districts of Schwyz, Gersau, Küssnacht am Rigi and Einsiedeln, as well as in the Lucerne lakeside communities of Vitznau, Weggis and Greppen. We are a contractual partner of the Lucerne Cremation Association and are responsible for the cantons of Schwyz, Uri and Zug.
