Between the Töss and Glatt rivers, a varied range of hills stretches down to the Rhine, with vines on the slopes and numerous hamlets and farms. This is how the poet Jakob Bosshart describes the landscape in which the Nürensdorf municipality lies. Around the turn of the century, 69 owners cultivated vineyards on around 8 hectares of land on its protected south-western slopes. The intensive workload, foreign wines, but also phylloxera and mildew gradually put an end to viticulture. Today, neat detached houses stand on the preferred sites where thousands of vines once grew. Only street names are a reminder of the former way of cultivation.

It is thanks to Fritz Morf's initiative that vines have been growing again on the southern slope of the Übrich at 540 meters above sea level since 1947. Over the past decades, the "Wigert" has been enlarged several times. Today it covers 120 acres.
