The Lattecaldo Restaurant is intimately linked to its owners Claudia, Sebastiano and Simone and was born out of love, friendship and passion. The love for catering, the friendship that binds the owners and the passion for the work are the ingredients that started this business. A spontaneous, family-run business that was born and grows mainly thanks to Claudia and Simone's daily work and enthusiasm.

WHERE WE ARE

Claudia Gaffuri (Crimi), class of 1991, after a period of studies devoted herself to her great passion the restaurant business, obtaining a diploma as a manager. Claudia is in charge of customer reception, bar and lounge service, and restaurant administration.

Simone Pigozzo, born in 1991, after training as a cook and later as a pastry chef/confectioner, works at several restaurants in Ticino and the rest of Switzerland. In the kitchen, he is in charge of choosing products, maintaining close contacts with local producers and preparing dishes. Simone also devotes ample space to pastry with the preparation of cakes and various desserts also intended for sale at the counter or by reservation.

Our Philosophy

Hospitality, from the Latin word Hospes, is our daily mission. Welcoming the guest, whether occasional, passing through or regular, making them feel at home thanks to a warm, familiar and well-kept environment. But above all thanks to simple, traditional Ticino dishes, revised without excess and prepared with homemade and local products. Search for the quality of ingredients also favored by Claudia and Simone's direct approach with the different producers in the area. Professionalism in meeting customer requests, even for special events, with choice menus agreed directly with the kitchen.

Where We Are

The Lattecaldo Restaurant occupies the building of the former Grotto Lattecaldo, located in Morbio Superiore in the village of the same name at the mouth of the Muggio Valley. Close to an important forest area, composed mostly of chestnut forests, from the Lattecaldo Restaurant it is possible to easily reach the paths leading to Monte Generoso and Monte Bisbino. The structure built for catering consists of the bar room with a fireplace at the entrance, a small room intended for bar customers and two large rooms that can accommodate up to a maximum of 60 people. Also ideal for organizing special events, the premises are distinguished by the refinement and sobriety of the decor. Outside there is a large terrace that can accommodate up to 80 people. From here it is possible to enjoy the summer coolness of the Muggio Valley in the shade of the trees that make up the garden.

Cuisine

The Lattecaldo Restaurant is distinguished by its simple cuisine, with traditional dishes, revised without excess and prepared with products chosen in the area directly from the producer. The evening menu, which follows the seasonality of the products, and the half-day menu are accompanied by a fixed menu with traditional Ticino dishes. The well-stocked wine cellar can count several labels of wines from the region. But that's not all. At the Lattecaldo Restaurant it is possible to have homemade desserts daily.

The evening menu

The evening menu at Lattecaldo Restaurant is composed following the seasonality of products and is distinguished by its simplicity, which nevertheless encompasses all the care with which the dishes are prepared. From identifying the products and ingredients to the service through the actual preparation. On the same menu you can find a wide selection of desserts prepared in house daily.

The midday menu

At noon, the Lattecaldo Restaurant offers, at an affordable price, a menu consisting of a first course or appetizer and a dessert or second course, accompanied by a final coffee. Water is always included in the price.

The set menu

The evening and half-day menus are always accompanied by a set menu that consists of traditional Ticino dishes. From cold cuts to cheeses, it is possible to taste niche products from the area. Thanks to the wine cellar, we can offer home-made aged cheeses in the fixed menu.

The wine list

The Lattecaldo Restaurant, in the old part of the facility, has a wine cellar suitable for wine storage and cheese aging. The labels that make up the list favor wines from the region. In fact, several selections of merlot find space in the cellar. But that's not all. Italian and French wines can also be found in rotation.

The patisserie

The Lattecaldo Restaurant is not just about cooking. Simone's training as a pastry chef and confectioner makes it possible to offer a wide selection of homemade desserts prepared daily for both table service and take-out. Cakes and desserts for special events can also be prepared to order.

Water

Water is also valued at Lattecaldo Restaurant. In fact, the natural and sparkling water that accompanies the different cards is purified in house directly from the water mains. This solution allows us to serve water that comes directly from the springs located in the Crotta Valley on the slopes of Monte Generoso.
