WHERE WE ARE

It is in a typical 17th century Malcantonese house on the sunny hillside of Monteggio that our family business is located. All around, on the south-facing slopes, are our 7 hectares of vineyards, which we tend with passion and respect with the help of employees and apprentices. With the fruits of this labor, we produce 25,000 bottles a year in the winery located in the cozy courtyard. From the bunch to the sale, we can thus best express our philosophy through our wines and through direct contact with our customers.

 

Our wines are born from the passion of our family. We take care of the entire production with dedication, from the vineyard to the sale, so that we can best express our philosophy and maintain a privileged contact with our customers.

VITICULTURE

Soils in the Tresa Valley are sandy, humus-rich, slightly acidic, and, depending on location, are slightly loamy. Almost everywhere, therefore, they enjoy good permeability. The steep terraces, intense sunshine and ideal growing climate designate the Ticino to a light-soil wine crop. On the grassy slopes an extremely varied and unique flora develops, which we try to preserve as much as possible. Ticino enjoys a unique climate, a mild climate particularly suited to Bordeaux grape varieties that is a key to the finesse of our wines.

MONTAGNA MAGICA 2016

Merlot di Monteggio DOC

A very careful processing both in the vineyard and in the cellar, make montagna magica "the best possible wine of the vintage, the pursuit of perfection, 'harmony and depth.'" The label, commissioned from a different artist each year, modeled after "Château Mouton-Rothschild," gives reason for this: a great wine is a "unicum."

A particularly limited harvest, cold maceration and a long period in contact with the skins. It allows this wine to age in barrels for 18 months.

Intense ruby color with violet hues, fruity and expressive nose where floral notes, blackberries, plums and spices mingle; velvety mouthfeel that starts with a soft attack, develops notes of blueberries, blackberries, suave acidity and well-present tannins. An elegant and linear wine endowed with great potential.

COSTERA RISERVA 2015

Rosso di Monteggio DOC

Costera is an assemblage wine with a Bordeaux interpretation that brings out the value of the different grape varieties that compose it, in search of a full and harmonious wine.

WINE MAKING

.

Each grape variety is vinified separately and processed according to different needs. A long pellicular maceration and alcoholic fermentation of 25 days, and malo-lactic fermentation is followed by aging in barrels for 18 months during which the wine.

The wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 months.

TASTING

Dark red, with expressive aromas of ripe and dried fruit, underbrush, smoky and spice. The mouthfeel is soft with fruit aromas and notes of underbrush, a large but fine tannic mass with a long persistence in the mouth.

VIGNETI DI CASTELLO 2016

Castello's vineyards grow on a very hard gneiss soil with a high percentage of sand that contributes to the formation of a light and draining soil. The vineyard is well exposed, located at an altitude of 400-450 a.s.l., characteristics that make it an early vineyard that yields a fine, fruity and elegant wine.

After cold maceration for four days, followed by alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature for more than 20 days, malo-lactic fermentation and aging during one year in barrique.

Persico is characterized by a subsoil of friable gneiss and a relatively important percentage of clay. Positioned in the full south at an altitude of 300-400 meters above sea level, the terroir provides the wine with important structure and great tannic mass.

Collected during the coolest part of the day to preserve the aromas, the wine is intended to be complex on structure.

The grapes are pressed and vinified in barrels. After the two fermentations, the wine is aged during 10 months in multi-step barrels where it acquires aromas and flavors that lead to its complexity.

Bright light yellow color with delicate aromas of floral, citrus and exotic fruits. In the mouth fine flavors with a rediscovery of the aromas, fruity and mineral, with an acidity that brings length.

Like a white, rosé expresses its qualities in both the freshness and finesse of the freshly harvested fruit. They derived from a "segnée" of the musts of the most prestigious wines.
