60 years for successful animal husbandry
UFA AG is well positioned with its plants for compound feed, milk powder, mineral salts and specialties. The plants are constantly being rationalized and modernized in order to optimally serve Swiss livestock farmers.
The path to becoming the leading company in animal nutrition
UFA (Union des fédérations agricoles) was founded in 1958 as the umbrella brand of the agricultural cooperative associations. Milk powder, mineral salts and specialties were produced centrally at UFAG Sursee from 1965. Each cooperative association produced its own compound feed until 1989. From 1989, these plants were successively merged and rationalized in Orador AG. In 1998, the two companies Orador AG Herzogenbuchsee and UFAG Sursee merged to form UFA AG. Since then, many rationalization steps have been taken to offer products and services for successful animal husbandry even more efficiently and cost-effectively. A particular milestone was the commissioning of the Biblis plant at the beginning of 2003. Biblis operates very efficiently with state-of-the-art technology, geared to European dimensions, and has led to a noticeable reduction in costs. By 2008, Biblis was already operating at full capacity and could be expanded. With the renovation of St. Margrethen, the world first "Sursee unmanned" and the new Puidoux bulk loading facility, UFA is well positioned in all regions.
