Why orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment has functional and/or aesthetic reasons. A correct positional relationship of the jaws and good tooth alignment with appropriate interlocking are a prerequisite for optimal function when chewing, swallowing, speaking and for correct mouth closure.

Teeth are an eye-catcher. Beautiful teeth and a good tooth position allow us to laugh carefree and increase our self-esteem.

Naturally, there is a wide variation in tooth and jaw positions, as well as tooth and jaw shapes. Not every deviation from the norm necessarily needs to be treated.

Tooth positions

The two jaws must fit together harmoniously, which can be seen in profile without looking directly at the teeth.

An ideal tooth position is a regular row of teeth and is aesthetically pleasing. It is an important part of the attractiveness of a person of any age.

Functionally correct interlocking of the teeth enables proper chewing function. Ideally, all teeth are supported: one tooth of the upper jaw touches two teeth of the lower jaw and vice versa, like gears in a transmission. Correct positioning of the upper and lower jaw is a prerequisite for good tooth alignment.

Child-friendly treatment

Your child will be gently introduced to the treatment with a great deal of dedication. During the treatment, your child will be accompanied with clear explanations. A television is also attached to the ceiling, which distracts your child with a children's film during treatment.

For children who are very nervous or very scared despite all the distractions, the use of laughing gas can also provide relief.

In order to be able to work under optimal conditions for major dental procedures in young children, treatment can be carried out under general anaesthetic in collaboration with an experienced anaesthesia team.
