What is meant by osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a manual therapy ( founded in 1892 by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still ) complementary to classical medicine. This natural and gentle method treats various diseases without using drugs, making use of a causal rather than symptomatic approach. Osteopathy, in fact, studies the individual as a whole and is not satisfied with resolving the symptom, but goes in search of the cause of any suffering, which may also find its location in another body area than the area of pain.
Objectives of osteopathic therapy:
This mainly deals with structural and mechanical problems of the musculoskeletal type with which, however, alterations in the function of the visceral organs and the cranio-sacral system may be associated.
Osteopathy works on people of all ages, from the newborn, to the elderly, to pregnant and post-pregnant women.
Main fields of application in cases of disorders such as:
- Cervicalgia
- Dorsalgia
- Lumbago
- Discopathies
- Headaches

Otitis, Sinusitis, Gynecological Disorders and Digestive Disorders.

AGOPUNTURE MTC (M Traditional C Chinese medicine)
What is meant by TCM acupuncture?
.Acupuncture is an ancient therapeutic methodology that falls under Traditional Chinese Medicine (often abbreviated as MTC). TCM is a medical system, developed in the East 2500 years ago and recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).
In a reductive way, the pivotal concepts in TCM are: man is regarded as a unitary entity, an integral part of nature and the Yin/Yang system (form of opposing but complementary energies). If Yin and Yang are in harmony , Qi (life energy) will be able to flow unhindered "in the organism , which will remain in a healthy state. In acupuncture, the doctor or therapist with specific training in TCM,: makes use of extremely thin (disposable) needles, which are inserted into one of 360 or more points (distributed throughout the body) depending on the effect to be achieved. Thus, thanks to the insertion of a few needles in these specific points; the aim is to restore if possible the state of health and therefore balance of the subject. According to TCM principles, the state of well-being (or energetic state) of the individual is mainly due to the harmonious flow of Qi which flows in the respective meridians or channels (12 main channels, secondary channels, eight extraordinary channels). Along the course of these meridians, but also in other locations are therefore placed these numerous acupoints. Therefore, should a "blockage" arise due to causes internal or external to the individual, Qi can no longer flow freely and disharmony or disease will therefore manifest.
The diagnosis :
In order to be able to operate rationally and effectively, applying the therapeutic basis of TCM; a precise assessment of the subject is necessary, following a precise procedure that makes use of a:
-Inspection (facial complexion, attitudes,...).
-Listening (voice and breathing, but also assessment of body odors, ..).
-Anamnesis (questioning to derive information about health status ).
-Palpation (such as abdomen or diagnostic acupoints,...).
In addition, clinical examination involves palpation of the pulses and observation of the tongue. Both are classic methods of determining the energy framework of the subject.
The techniques:
TCM means not only acupuncture but also:
-Moxibustion: one heats the points using "cigars" composed of Artemisia Vulgaris or placing the same on the needles, it has an effect on Cold/Umidity pathologies, tonifies the Yang.
-Coping: stimulation of points with glass cups in which a vacuum is created.
-Auricular therapy: the ear represents a "microsystem," 88 points corresponding to functions , organs of the human body (these points are treated with needles or by application of Vaccaria seeds).
-Prunus flower or flower with seven petals: formed by seven needles, its function is to activate circulation; areas where there is little blood flow or where there is stagnation.
Tuina: is an ancient massage technique, closely related to acupuncture, as it focuses on energy channels or points.
-Gua Sha: using a "spatula," specific areas are rubbed, particularly to remove congestion.
-Dermaroller: through a multitude of micro-points (no needle) made of plastic or metal, not only the blood supply of the skin is stimulated, but also the flow of Qi at the superficial meridian level.
-Blooding technique:its function is to regulate the flow of Qi and blood.
-Electroacupuncture: through a gentle current, needles are further supported-stimulated, in order to act mainly on acute and chronic pain.
-Phytotherapy and dietetics: phytotherapy involves the use of Chinese herbs. Dietetics is part of the therapy, since by recommending proper nutrition, one can support the free flow of Qi.
-Medical gymnastics: Qi Gong, Tai Chi Chuan, to harmonize and strengthen Qi.
Main fields of application i case of disorders such as (according to WHO recommendations):
-Respiratory diseases (sinusitis, rhinitis, bronchial asthma, ...)
Ocular diseases (acute conjunctivitis, retinitis, ...)
-Mental diseases (toothache, gingivitis,...)
-Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (gastritis, colitis, constipation,...)
-Neuropathies and Myopathies (headache, migraine, acute facial paralysis, sciatica, peripheral neuropathies,...)
Acupuncture has a therapeutic effect on many other pathologies both acute and chronic:
-Pathologies osteo-articular and rheumatology: arthrosis, discopathies, low back pain, back pain, cervicalgia, pain from muscle contractures, tendinitis, pain in general at the joints of the body,...
