Our telephone is open from 07.45 to 18.30. We can give you an appointment within two to three weeks - for dental treatment as well as for your dental hygiene.

We, Dr. med. dent. Lisa Leutenegger and Dr. med. dent. Roman Januth, have been running our friendly, modern and centrally located dental practice in Biel since 1995.

We offer advanced dentistry for children and adults with a focus on function and aesthetics. Our dental treatments range from prophylaxis and dental hygiene to school dental care, aesthetic dentistry, implantology and prosthetics.

We work with state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, such as the Cerec procedure and digital X-rays, and in accordance with the hygiene regulations for dental practices. Accordingly, all instruments are machine-washed, disinfected and then sterilized in an autoclave. Amalgam residues in the suction and extracted teeth are specially disposed of. We donate extracted teeth with gold residue to the Red Cross for recycling.

Thanks to close cooperation with qualified specialists and ongoing training, we can offer you treatment at the highest level. As a patient, you are always the focus of our attention.

To make your stay and your dental treatment as relaxed and pleasant as possible, you can watch a movie on the ceiling in our treatment rooms. A DVD in the waiting room informs you about various dental topics.

In our dental practice in the heart of Biel, we offer you the full spectrum of modern dentistry. We take a lot of time for our patients and explain the individual treatment steps to them.

If you have a particularly difficult problem in orthodontics, surgery/implantology or periodontology (periodontal disease), we will refer you to a specialist.

For anxious patients, we offer treatment with nitrous oxide or anesthesia. However, treatment under anesthesia is only an option if conventional methods of anxiety relief have not worked.

Dental hygiene & prophylaxis

The most important thing for healthy teeth is good oral hygiene. It is the be-all and end-all. The most beautiful/expensive restoration is useless if the oral hygiene is not right. Our dental hygienists take care of professional and gentle cleaning of your teeth. They also instruct each patient on how to clean their teeth and give nutritional recommendations.

Fillings

Mainly plastic/composite, CAD-CAM ceramics with Cerec 3D®. We have not used amalgam for years.

Crowns / bridges

The dental work is carried out by master dental technician Ursula Puntel. She mainly uses products from Cendres+Métaux and state-of-the-art all-ceramics (zirconium oxide, e-max).

Partial and full dentures

We successfully treat edentulous patients with partial and full dentures. We use special mini-implants to stabilize full dentures. They are very suitable when there is little bone left. The price-performance ratio is excellent.

Implants

Missing teeth can be replaced with implants. In our practice, we use implants from MDI 3M®, Straumann® and Camlog®.

Oral surgery

We usually perform the removal of wisdom teeth under local anesthesia. For more extensive procedures or at the patient's request, especially for anxious patients, we use nitrous oxide or general anesthesia

Orthodontics

For children, we mainly offer simple orthodontic treatments. We refer more difficult treatments to specialists. For adults, we can perform aesthetic corrections in the front teeth area. We use Inman Aligner or Clear Aligner.

Aesthetic dentistry

We offer bleaching treatments, tooth position corrections with white fillings, bonding of dental diamonds etc.

School dental care

As a school dentist, we are not only responsible for the city of Biel, but also represent surrounding municipalities as a dentist.

Special features

In many cases, a good to very good result can be achieved with simple means. Straight teeth with large defects, for example, can often still be treated with a composite filling (white filling). Especially in cases where the tooth is still symptom-free, a costly root canal treatment can be avoided.

Dentist's tax point value: 1.0

We are aware that the revised tariff will make dental hygiene in particular more expensive. For this reason, we have reduced the tax point value for dental hygiene from 1.0 to 0.8.

Fair play: We offer good dental treatment at a reasonable rate: this is only possible thanks to the cooperation of our patients. We have to charge you for missed sessions or sessions canceled at short notice.

Conditions: Payment of treatment on account. We are happy to send by e-mail. We ask new patients for a deposit. Monthly installments are also possible by arrangement. Payment with the following cards is also possible:

Help, I'm scared

Good that you call a spade a spade! This will help you to reduce your anxiety and we can better adapt to you. There are various relaxation techniques. If these do not help you, for example if you have a pronounced gag reflex, we have an excellent aid at our disposal in the form of laughing gas.

Ouch, I have a toothache

• When brushing your teeth or drinking cold drinks: Don't worry! The neck of your tooth is probably just exposed.
• When biting down: There may be a crack in the crown of the tooth, the nerve in the root of the tooth may be inflamed or the periodontium may be diseased (periodontal disease).
• Since I have a new filling: Most likely the new filling is minimally too high. Let me know if it still bothers you after a week.
• I wake up at night and have to take painkillers because of a toothache: Please make an appointment immediately; on Saturdays and Sundays, please contact the emergency service: Tel. 0900 903 903.

Accident

• "My 4-year-old child has fallen, two teeth are loose." Don't worry. As long as they are milk teeth, there is no danger. The pain should subside on its own.
• "My 8-year-old boy has fallen and chipped a piece of tooth." Please make an appointment with us immediately and report the accident to your insurance company.
• "I am 15 years old and knocked out a whole tooth while playing football". Find the tooth (make sure you only touch the crown!), rinse it under running water or, if possible, put it in your mouth. Alternatively, keep it in a glass of milk and come by immediately (!!).
• The information on dental accidents, which can be found on the website of the Center for Dental Medicine at the University of Zurich in the form of the brochure "Dental Accidents", is also very easy to understand. As a general rule, milk teeth require much less treatment, but you should contact us immediately if you have permanent teeth!

Cleaning your teeth

"It bleeds when you brush or floss your teeth." Very good that you are worried. Bleeding is a sign of inflammation and means nothing other than that you should spend more time on oral hygiene. After a short time it should start to bleed less and eventually stop completely. If not, please stop by. It is a little more difficult for chain smokers. The gums and also the tooth bed can be inflamed without bleeding. Smoking constricts the blood vessels, which hides the inflammation.

The prosthesis does not hold/painful

There is an excellent way to stabilize partial dentures and especially mandibular complete dentures with mini-implants. In addition to the excellent hold, there are hardly any pressure points. This is surprisingly easy with a minimally invasive procedure, similar to a tooth extraction. The cost-benefit ratio is also very good: the additional financial outlay for four reduced-diameter implants is less than CHF 2,000. Normally, the existing prosthesis can continue to be used. Thanks to the reduced diameter, the MDI implants can be placed without additional effort even if there is little bone available.
