Gemeindeverwaltung – Contacts & Location
Description
Hedingen lies to the west of the Üetliberg in the district of Affoltern am Albis and borders the canton of Aargau. The village is a peri-urban residential community due to its distance of 11 km from Zurich. At 497 m above sea level, Hedingen lies on the border between a hilly and a mountainous region. Most of the inhabitants live in the village itself, which consists of a lower and an upper village. A smaller proportion live in various hamlets/settlements. The lower village lies in the valley below and the upper village, as the name suggests, on the slope above, in a sunny location with a wide view of the Lindenberg in Aargau. The old village also forms the village center. However, it is very small, as Hedingen has grown considerably, especially in recent times. In addition, practically all the old houses have been carefully renovated, so that the old village harmonizes very well with the newer buildings; only the building structure in some places still refers to the old days. The village center is mainly home to restaurants and stores, such as a grocery store, a bakery/pastry shop, hairdressing salons, etc., not forgetting of course the train station and post office.
