Giordani SA engages in logging and timber trading in general.
It operates throughout Canton Ticino, Switzerland and abroad.
It was founded by Giordani Albino in 1960, and upon his death in 1978 it was then taken over by his sons Giordani Dino and Giuseppe under their mother's name "Giordani Palmina", then since 1984 under the name "F.lli Giordani" and then since 2001 it continues with Giordani SA.
The legal and operational headquarters of the company is located in Gudo, arranged on an area of 15´000 m2, of which about 800 m2 is covered for the storage of firewood and wood chips.
The company has qualified and experienced personnel, has a full fleet of vehicles, which allows it to take charge of the implementation of specialized projects and maintenance.
An important part of our business concerns the processing and sale of timber: we annually market approximately 25´000 m3 of raw material from our forests, this divided into construction timber, firewood, industrial timber, wood chips and other renewable energy assortments.
We specialize in cutting dangerous trees, in hazardous areas or at homes where felling is difficult.
We carry out silvicultural projects throughout Canton Ticino, among them:
- Chestnut foothill reforestation, from which we also derive chestnut poles that are used for avalanche shelters, poles for pergolas, fences, playgrounds naturalistic constructions, etc.
- Cutting, clearing, arrangement and creation of the new forest
- Preconstruction works
The timber resulting from these projects is used, in part, to supply sawmills, which in turn saw it and resell it to carpenters' shops as construction timber and to joiners for furniture and window frames.
It is also used as firewood, the latter in assortments for fireplaces, stoves and pizzerias, as well as chopped up and used as an energy carrier for small, medium and large district heating and cogeneration plants. This wood chips is as well used for mulching, gardens, flower beds, Finnish tracks, playgrounds, and from the latest innovation the "wood chips," with further processing of shredding, drying and screening to be used in stoves and small district heating power plants for single-family houses as a substitute for pellets.
And finally, we market pellets, which has been very successful for heating systems in recent years, especially on small stoves and medium-sized central heating systems.
