Académie de Musique de Genève – Contacts & Location
Description
The Académie de Musique, one of the oldest schools in the canton of Geneva, was founded in 1886. Over the course of its 139-year history, a broad range of artistic education has been offered, creating in turn drama classes, film courses and a ballet school. Since Hans von Bülow's landmark visit, the school has been taught by renowned musicians, and has counted among its students and teachers such musical luminaries of our country as Roger Vuataz and André-François Marescotti, who have directly contributed to its prestige.
Since 1981, the Académie has been a public-interest foundation, and its teaching staff comprises some twenty members, all with recognized professional training.
On September 7, 2010, the school was awarded the Certificat qualité ArtistiQua de ProFormations. Certification renewed in 2014 and 2018.
A school open to all, competitive rates:
A private institution, the Académie de Musique charges reasonable rates. Its teaching is aimed at children from the age of 3 and at teenagers and adults with no age limit. These two essential aspects make the Académie a school open to all.
FLEXIBLE TEACHING
The Académie applies and conforms to the program of the Confédération des écoles genevoises de musique. However, it remains true to its objectives: to provide quality musical teaching adapted to the aptitudes and expectations of each student.
Motivated students are prepared for national and international competitions.
AUDITIONS, CONCERTS, SHOWS
The Academy regularly offers its students the opportunity to perform in public at numerous auditions throughout the school year. They are also invited to take part in cultural events such as the Fête de la Musique, Ô Vives à Vous... Like the teachers, who give priority to chamber and ensemble music, students who wish to do so are invited to practice this music in various forms.
MUSICAL CULTURE
The Académie offers a wide range of theoretical courses, enabling students of all ages to perfect their musical culture. It is also open to any proposals that may be received, and is considering the opening of new classes according to demand.
CHOICE OF COURSES
Students enrolled at the Académie in singing or instrumental classes have the choice between an "academic" curriculum and a "free" curriculum that follows the student's pace (choice of program, optional auditions).
The Académie offers every student, whatever their age, a musical education that stimulates their motivation and taste for music, through practice and encounters with established musicians.
CONCERTS ALL YEAR ROUND
The Académie fosters exchange and collaboration with other schools, and regularly welcomes artists from elsewhere. The program of our events is kept up to date and can be consulted on our website.
DISCOVERING INSTRUMENTS
Before enrolling, students can request a trial lesson (for a fee), which will be counted towards the annual tuition if the student decides to start lessons.
As far as places are available, enrolments take place throughout the year.
