Description
For over 9 centuries, Les Compagnons du Devoir have enabled young people to develop their skills to a high level in their chosen trade. Sharing knowledge and know-how, traveling and community life are the fundamentals of Les Compagnons du Devoir.
Our itinerants / Interns go from company to company, town to town, region to region country to country. Traveling with a toolbox is an adventure, a journey of self-discovery, opening up horizons and enhancing professional prospects. Differences become a source of enrichment and understanding, contributing to professional, cultural and personal education. As we expect our itinerants/interns to be open to international travel, we also welcome young people wishing to train with us in France.
Employers working in partnership with Compagnons du Devoir have the opportunity to hire competent and reliable itinerants/interns with varying levels of experience. Such young people can improve their work skills, bring flexibility, motivation and intercultural exchange. We also have the means to provide tailor-made in-house training for company employees.
The first journeymen arrived in Switzerland in 1976, most of them carpenters. The first Maison de Compagnons was then established in Lutry (VD), on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Since then, many more Compagnons have been established.
Since then, many other trades have visited the country, attracted by Switzerland's unique know-how. In particular, carpenters came to discover the construction of wooden chalets in the mountains. Then, in the 2000s, it was the roofers who moved in, fascinated by the local tinsmithing techniques.
Since then, many of our customers have moved to Switzerland.
Since then, many other journeymen have found happiness in Switzerland, and today there are 75 sedentary to accompany our young trainees. At present, the Lutry (VD) house no longer exists, but we do have 6 welcome points for our young people in further training in Switzerland.
Since then, many other companions have found happiness in Switzerland, and we now have 75 sedentary companions to accompany our young people in training.
