Description
A. Flum GmbH Orthopaedic Technology
Our services:
- Orthetics
Orthoses have the task of guiding and correcting the musculoskeletal system. Special orthoses can often make an affected person's life easier or prevent a worsening of the existing condition.
In postoperative use, they support the healing process. The orthoses are all made from plaster casts and the joints and material are determined according to biomechanical principles.
This precise customization enables our patients to walk more easily and safely.
We differentiate between various orthoses:
Lower extremities
Insoles
correct the foot and fit into any shoe. Insoles are manufactured according to a computer pressure measurement system.

- Prosthetics
- Prostheses have the task of replacing a limb. The amputation of a limb can be traumatic in nature or caused by an arterial occlusion.
Each prosthesis is designed individually for each patient. The prosthesis is constructed according to biomechanical laws to enable physiological and low-energy walking.
The prosthesis is designed to be as light as possible by using the latest materials, prosthetic feet and knee joints.
The wide range of fittings enables each patient to find a solution that meets individual requirements and problems.
We distinguish between different prostheses:
Lower extremities
Foot prosthesis
made of siliconeLower leg prosthesis
with anatomical cosmeticsKnee disarticulation prosthesis

with hydraulic swing phase control at the knee joint

- Seat shells
Seat shells in wheelchairs allow patients to sit in a pain-free and relaxed manner.
What does "sitting normally" mean? Sitting still and motionless is unphysiological and requires a lot of strength. Even sitting upright without support is not a resting position and can only be maintained for a short time. As a rule, the body's center of gravity is constantly changed by shifting the torso, head or limbs, resulting in alternating strain on the muscles and joints. This constant movement is a natural phenomenon.
Sitting is therefore unproblematic for the non-disabled person. They can either change their position on the chair or sit in a more comfortable chair. For a non-ambulatory patient who is bound to a wheelchair, the constant changes in posture are often only possible to a limited extent or even impossible. The only change in position that is often observed is the tipping back and ventral sliding of the pelvis. The consequences of an excessive sitting angle, decubitus ulcers on the sacrum, can often be traced back to incorrect sitting posture.
This is why a symmetrical and physiological posture at the base of the pelvis should be aimed for. The seat shell should enable the disabled person to carry out activities, correct skeletal deformities and allow maximum relaxation of the muscles.
