The company's history began in 1977, when Engelbert Langenegger took over the construction business of his uncle, Emil Breu. He founded the company Langenegger AG Hoch- und Tiefbau. From 1988 to 2002, the current owner Reto Langenegger completed his apprenticeship. He learned the trade of bricklayer and continued his training as a foreman and construction foreman to become a master builder . Reto Langenegger took over the company in 2007.

The construction company in Appenzell attaches great importance to personal advice for customers. For small orders, they also take on the project planning.

The team currently comprises between 10 and 15 employees. The employees, some of whom have been with the company for many years, include foremen, supervisors, bricklayers, crane operators and construction workers. The company also offers apprenticeships.
