- Who I am
SOPHIE ROUILLER
Born in 1979 on the slopes of Lake Geneva, I grew up and studied there until obtaining a master's degree in Social and Political Sciences. With a passion for travel, I first worked in the humanitarian field, before returning to Switzerland to devote myself to social work, as a specialized educator.
I discovered Shiatsu in 2002, and it immediately appealed to me. I felt it did me good, relaxed me, rejuvenated me and helped me to be stronger in the face of life's various vicissitudes. I continued to treat myself on a regular basis, listening to my body's needs. In 2010 I took an introductory course out of sheer curiosity, and immediately loved practising the technique. Working at the time in a foster home for teenagers, I was able to experience the benefits of Shiatsu on them.
I then started the ISS school in Geneva (www.shiatsu-iss.ch).
I was immediately fascinated by the teaching of traditional Chinese medicine based on the Tao (Yin and Yang), the meridians and the 5 seasons of Energy. This vision, which reconciles body and mind by considering them as a whole evolving in a constantly changing environment in which it's a question of finding one's balance, became primordial for me.
I continued my training by taking the Shen Master Training I offered by the Shen Academy (www.shenshiatsu.net/fr).
I was thus able to enrich my treatments with more specific techniques targeting the various systems of the body (nervous, visceral, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, spheres of pressure (diaphragms), energetic).
I am reimbursed by complementary health insurance funds recognized by ASCA and RME.
- How does a session work?
The session takes place on the floor on a futon and lasts around 60 minutes. The recipient is dressed in soft, comfortable clothing. As the treatment is applied to the whole body, the person will position themselves successively on their back, then on their stomach, and if necessary in a seated or sideways position. Pressure, stretching and various relaxation and softening techniques will be chosen according to the recipient's needs, and meridian work according to an energy assessment carried out at the beginning of the session.
- Who is it for?
Shiatsu is a preventive and complementary medicine. It is aimed at anyone wishing to maintain or develop physical, psychological and emotional well-being. It is therefore intended for everyone and whatever their age, and will be adapted according to the recipient's restrictions and possibilities.
- Areas of shiatsu application?
Shiatsu acting directly on the central nervous system promotes:
⁃ nervous relaxation and the dispersion of physical tension
⁃ the stimulation of the body's self-defense system
⁃ self-regulation of the digestive, hormonal circulatory and respiratory systems
⁃ readjustment of structural misalignments
⁃ the rebalancing of the energy system as a whole
It is therefore indicated in the case of:
⁃ nervous tension, stress and overwork, chest tightness, insomnia, burn-out etc.
⁃ physical tension such as shoulder, neck, back and
pain and restrictions.any other joint or structural problems...
⁃ digestive problems such as constipation, difficult digestion etc...
⁃ circulatory problems such as cold extremities, heavy legs, tachycardia or other cardiac fragility
- upper sphere problems such as sinusitis, tinnitus, vision problems, migraines etc.
- problems of the thoracic sphere such as breathing difficulty, asthma, anxieties etc..
Shiatsu is therefore intended for everyone, but it can never replace medical treatment in the case of serious illnesses and will only be a support and accompaniment in extreme situations or
situations. It is therefore important that the person receiving the treatment is transparent about his or her health so that the anamnesis can run as smoothly as possible and the treatment can be adapted.
