We Central Europeans spend an average of 80% of our lives indoors. Air conditioning systems and comfort ventilation systems have been supplying air to these living and working spaces, such as open-plan offices, shopping centers, etc., since the 1960s. These ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC systems) are largely responsible for the condition of the indoor air.

In many places, tests were only carried out on the technical condition of the system for fire safety reasons. Unfortunately, hygiene checks and the resulting cleaning and disinfection were criminally neglected. This led to health problems and serious illnesses caused by mold and bacteria.

In response to increasing hygiene requirements, new guidelines have emerged that stipulate an annual inspection of internal air duct surfaces for contamination and corrosion.
